FETHIYE
Fethiye is the largest town in the area and is a lively port and market town. Fethiye provides another change of pace to both Ovacik/Hisaronu and Oludeniz as it is a working Turkish town but, has many attractions for visitors to the area. It has a picturesque harbour and marina, ancient ruins including rock tombs, amphitheatre, fortress and the Paspatur or ‘old city’ with its winding streets. The Paspatur is particularly popular with visitors as it is a bazaar and is home to a myriad of shops, bars and great restaurants.
Turkey is famed for its quality gold and silver which can be bought from a number of well established, good quality jewellers in and around Paspatur.

Turkish carpets and kilims also provide an excellent purchase and can be bought in Hisaronu but, as a larger town Fethiye will provide you with a wider choice.
Locum or Turkish delight producers offer you the opportunity to watch this sweet being made and then try before you buy. A real must for children and anyone with a sweet tooth alike!
There is a large market on Tuesdays in Fethiye and another in Hisaronu on Mondays. Offering the opportunity to purchase bargains and to test your haggling skills! Leather goods, fresh produce, herbs, spices and of course Turkish delight are particularly excellent buys.
